“La Inédita”: a legendary guitar now playing for Aladina
A true treasure from the history of Spanish music, “La Inédita”—a guitar handcrafted in 1912 by master luthier Santos Hernández for the legendary Andrés Segovia—is now being auctioned at the prestigious Bonhams auction house in Paris.
The auction runs until May 28, and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to our programs for children with cancer, with a special focus on a project that fills us with excitement and hope: The Aladina Home.
Although it was built specifically for Segovia, a falling-out between the musician and the luthier meant the guitar was never played by its intended artist. That’s how it earned its name: “La Inédita”—The Unplayed. Since then, this extraordinary instrument has remained cloaked in mystery… until now.
Thanks to Paco Arango, president of the Aladina Foundation, who generously donated this historic piece, La Inédita is beginning a new chapter—a chapter of compassion and purpose.
A Unique Instrument for a Groundbreaking Cause
At Aladina, we recently unveiled plans for The Aladina Home, the first day center of its kind in Europe for children with cancer and their families. This project, which will be located in Madrid, represents a one-of-a-kind space that will offer emotional, psychological, material, and research support throughout every stage of the illness—and beyond.
With an estimated budget of €15 million, The Aladina Home is one of the most ambitious and heartfelt projects in our history. And now, La Inédita is playing a key role in bringing this dream to life.
Thank you for helping us keep changing lives—one note at a time.
