Cinema and Charity

Since 2011, our president Paco Arango has combined his leadership of Aladina with his work as a director, screenwriter, and producer, being the only filmmaker who donates 100% of his films’ profits to the fight against childhood cancer around the world. In the countries where the films are shown, Aladina selects local foundations to receive the funds. Thanks to this effort, Aladina has strong ties with countless organizations around the world fighting childhood cancer.

My Other Jon

A comedy that celebrates life and, like all of Paco Arango’s films, has been 100% charitable to help children with cancer through Fundación Aladina. “Mi otro Jon” is produced by Abuela Jon S.L., Calcon, and Telecinco Cinema, with the participation of Mediaset España and Movistar Plus+, and distributed in Spain by Wanda Visión.

Los Rodríguez y el más allá

Paco Arango’s third film was a zany family adventure comedy. The film featured an important cast of Spanish and Mexican actors including Edu Soto, Mariana Treviño, Omar Chaparro, Santiago Segura, Geraldine Chaplin, Rossy de Palma, Macarena Gómez, and Arón Piper. Like his previous films, “Los Rodríguez y el Más Allá” donated the box office proceeds to Aladina to continue supporting hundreds of children and teenagers with cancer.

The Healer

Paco’s second film sparked an enormous wave of solidarity in Spain and in 16 other countries. “The Healer” (Lo Que De Verdad Importa) brought in 445,000 viewers and €2.7 million at the box office, allowing 1,000 children with cancer to enjoy a week of vacation at Serious Fun network camps. Its impact crossed borders: numerous Latin American organizations received funds thanks to its millions of supportive viewers, and it was a success in more than 16 countries. In total, 3.1 million people joined this unique initiative. Additionally, in 2020, the film reached number 1 on Netflix USA.

Maktub

Paco Arango’s first film received three Goya Award nominations. A beautiful Christmas story for the whole family starring Goya Toledo, Diego Peretti, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, and a very young Arón Piper, among others. Paco donated 100% of the box office proceeds to Aladina, and with that contribution, the foundation carried out the complete renovation of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Hospital Niño Jesús: the Maktub Center, a pioneering unit in the field of bone marrow transplants that opened its doors in February 2013.
